Piled High Deep

So far school is going good. This week I have been meeting with professors to discuss their research. I have to choose three people that I would like to work with throughout the year; on Monday we have to submit our first choice.

Do I work with the guy that studies heart development? Or the guy that studies the genetics of Autism? Or the guy that is developing cancer drugs that will be going through clinical trials soon?

It's a hard decision because the topics are soooooo detailed. If I end up in the heart dude's lab, I could spend YEARS studying how some molecule affects this other molecule, that makes the outflow tract form correctly. Or how the defect of one molecule can screw everything up.
I don't know if I like hearts that much, or if I want to work with mice. I've worked with mice before and it made me feel guilty as hell- I wasn't even the one who had to anesthetize the mouse and then, well, you know...

I'm going out with my friend to get a Chinese foot massage a.k.a reflexology. It's only 15$ for an hour, and it's not just your feet, it's a whole body thing. (We went last week too).

I'm sure I'll be able to make a good decision after I've had a massage.

A good massage is the secret to life's problems.

  1. That Chinese foot massage sounds pretty enticing. I would definitely pay for a 2 hour foot massage right here right now right smack dab in the middle of the library. Too bad there aren't any little Chinese foot massagers in the library right now. Maybe it'd help me focus on my homework that I'm behind on...

Hope you're having fun in LA! Oh, and wave at my grandma's house if you ever pass through Monterey Park!

o o o o! Also, go to The Hat for me. I think there's on in Alhambra, but I have no clue where it is. There's one in Monterey Park kiddie corner from East LA College. Well, it's technically kiddie corner from whatever gas station is next door to the school, but immediately across the street from the Ralph's. Anyway, it's on Ceasar Chavez Ave...or maybe Blvd? I can't really remember.

  3. Joyce! I live like two blocks away from The Hat in Pasadena! I went a few weeks ago with my mom- it was really good. I also passed another one in Alhambra on my way to the foot massage. I also live close to a Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles- I bet you've tried that one too. Too bad there aren't any Chinese massage places in Provo- at least none that I'm aware of.

Samantha! Good hearing from you. The foot massage definitely cleared things up :)

  4. So many interesting things to study. Good luck with your pathway into "whatever" it is that pulls in your direction. I do hope however, that you get to study cancer a little bit even if it's not your main focus. Cancer and the heart. Number 1 and number 2 top killers. We need smart people like you! :0)
